Keeping your Mac up to date is one of the best ways to keep your computer running at
the highest level with the latest software and protection. According to Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, updating your app is one way to keep yourself safe online. For example, updates can often help keep your personal data safe by avoiding potential security risks. If you are busy or forget to check for updates (which may sound like they come out every day), you are not alone. There are currently four versions of MacOS Monterey available to the public, and that does not include individual beta versions. But you can customize your Mac to automatically scan, download and install updates. Here's how to set up auto-updates for your Mac so you don't miss out again. 1. On your Mac's screen, click the Apple logo in the top left corner. 2. Click System Preferences. 3. Pick Software Update in the newly opened window. 4. Click the box next to Keep My Mac Updated Automatically at the bottom of the window. 5. Click Advanced. 6. In the new window you will see Automatically near the top of the screen, with five options with boxes next to it below. 7. Select the checkbox next to Updates. This will allow for two options: Download new updates when available and Install system data files and security updates. 8. Select Download new updates when available. This will display the last two options, Install macOS updates and Install app updates from the App Store. 9. Select the boxes you want to open. 10. Click OK. Depending on the options you have selected, your device will now automatically update updates, as well as App Store download updates and security updates. Your Mac will still let you know if you need to restart to complete the installation, but your Mac handles all leg work. If auto-updates make your Mac restart at the wrong time, follow the steps above and uncheck Check Updates to close all auto-update updates, or choose which options you want to cancel.
